My Story
Hi there! My name is Jillian Cox. I am originally from central California, but have lived in Kingsport, Tennessee for most of my life. My educational journey has had many unexpected twists and turns! I was homeschooled on and off throughout K-12 and attended a few different schools during that time. I ultimately graduated from Sullivan South High School in 2019, and then went on to get my A.S. in Theatre from Northeast State Community College in 2021. After leaving Northeast State and transferring to a few different schools to further my theatre education, I ended up moving back home to Kingsport, transferring to East Tennessee State University, and graduating with a B.S. in Psychology in May 2024!
At Northeast State, I spent a lot of time putting on plays—both on stage as an actor and behind the scenes designing and hanging lights! At ETSU, I worked at the Reece Museum as a museum assistant and had so much fun getting to learn more about Appalachian culture. I was also able to gain some amazing experience through a higher education internship where I discovered a passion for helping students find their own unique paths and learn more about themselves!
Most of my free time is spent with my fiancé, Zach. We love to watch movies, grab some coffee, and take trips to Gatlinburg! I also love spending time with my sister and our cats. As for my future career goals, I hope to work in higher education as an advisor or career counselor!
I am no stranger to feeling lost, confused, and unsure of my next steps. In fact, I have felt that way throughout most of my educational journey! If you are feeling that way, that’s totally normal and you’re not alone. My goal is to help you feel confident in your ability to face whatever challenges and changes come your way as we navigate the vast world of college and career options together. You may know exactly what you want to do, or you may have no idea and change your mind a million times! Either way, your journey is yours and no one else’s, and I’m here to support you. I’m looking forward to connecting with you this year!
