My Story
Hi, everyone! My name is Jasmine Martin, and I’m from Morristown, TN. I graduated from Morristown East High in 2018 and went on to get a B.A. in Communications from The University of Tennessee- Knoxville as a Niswonger Scholar.

My time in undergrad was far from traditional. From taking a semester off my freshman year to experiencing college in the COVID era, I understand the struggles of balancing college with all life can throw at you, and I couldn't have done it without the support from those around me. These experiences, and my desire to advocate for others, led to me being a student fellow for the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) under the Niswonger Foundation. My time as a fellow was spent advocating for equitable access to higher education for students with backgrounds like my own, and it ignited my desire to serve and support those reaching for higher education.

Fast forward to life after graduation, I've spent the past two years as a NiswongerCARE Advisor at the high school level, and I'm eager to continue building on the relationships I formed as I follow our first cohort of freshman to Walters State as a NiswongerSTART Mentor!
Work aside, I like to spend my free time hiking, crocheting, and spoiling my five cats- Juno, Justinian, Chester, Theodora, and Delilah!
